In the THE PRESBYTERIAN WITNESS there is a record of the death of a RODERICK MCKENZIE from Cariboo, in Bonanza City, Col. (USA) on 21 Jun 1892, aged 49, which would fit as "our" Roderick. There certainly seems to be no trace of the family in Cariboo in the 1901 Census, and it is quite possible that the family moved to the USA where many of the young men and there families went in those days in search of jobs in a variety of mining ventures

John born about 1845, Nova Scotia.

It is not known if John McKenzie married and had children but in the Cariboo River Upper Cemetery there is a listing for a Johnnie McKenzie, son of John & Catherine, 1895 - 09 Aug 1901

Murdoch, born about 1849, Nova Scotia.

Murdoch married Annie McKenzie in 1873. This was not only recorded in the official marriage records for Pictou County but also in the Presbyterian Witness.

Pictou County Marriage: - Page 100, Entry #179 - 1873

27 Nov 1873, at Saltsprings, License, Church of Scotland MURDOCH McKenzie, age 24, bachelor, Farmer residing Little Carriboo River, born W. Br. Presbyterian Witness (P. W. Sat 6 Dec 1873, Vol. XXVI No. 49 p.392)

on 27th November of that year, at Salt Springs, Murdoch McKenzie son of Donald McKenzie , blacksmith, Little Caribou River, Pictou married Annie McKenzie, daughter of Roderick McKenzie, Watervale, West River.

Murdoch and Annie has at least four known children (plus another possible!) -

For the census of 1881 Murdoch, Annie and their four children, Jane born circa 1874, Mary Catherine born circa 1875, Christy Ann born 1877, and Audina (actually Rhodina I believe) born 1879 were living in Caribou along with Murdoch's mother Jane. FOUR daughters, was presumably NOT good news for Murdoch
