Margaret Adam born 19 Jan 1804 in Dailly, Ayrshire. Margaret married John Kemp, a blacksmith, on 29 Dec 1826 in Glasgow. The Kemp family history website on the internet proposes that John Kemp was born 18 Oct 1801 and baptised on 8 Nov 1801 in Penicuik, Midlothian, the son of Ebenezer Kemp, a Ploughman, and Isobel Younger, were married 7 Oct 1797, Penicuik, Midlothian.. (With Ebenezer Kemp born 3 Sep 1766, Lasswade, Midlothian, and Isobel Younger born 8 Nov 1778, Broughton, Peebles-shire.). I am unaware of any evidence that they may have to substantiate this proposal, however the fact the 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 census for Isabella, Margaret and John's youngest child give her place of birth as Penicuk, Midlothian and the fact that Margaret and John's first daughter was named Isabella and their first son Ebenezer would also fit with this theory John certainly died in 1841/1851 and there is a Death / Burial recorded in the OPR on 26 February 1843 in the Gorbals cemetry in Glasgow, that may well be a record of his demise. Could he have been a distant cousin of Margaret through her potential grandmother Jean Kemp?? Margaret Kemp nee Adam died on 23 Oct 1866 in 150 Garscube Road, Glasgow. The informant was her son William. Her father was confirmed as William Adam, shoemaker, but her mothers name is given erroneously (I believe) as Margaret Nisbet, and should be Elizabeth Nisbet.
