There is an interesting article on a Raglan website which talks about a shop in Raglan run by F. N. Silverthorn post 1926 with pictures of Frederick and Miriam, the shop etc. - http://rlhg.wetpaint.com/page/Silverthorne+family - This states "Having given up a career as a schoolteacher, F.N. Silverthorne opened his first grocer shop in Pontllanfraith - then a booming mining town. However, in 1925 all this was to come to a halt as the miners went on strike, -- couldn't pay their bills -- and within a year, the Silverthornes were broke. And so, in 1926, the Silverthorne family left Pontllanfraith and moved to Castle Street in Raglan (next to the Malthouse) and opened a small grocers shop in their front window." There are also details of Frederick's family and his ancestry. As stated previously I suspect that there is a slight confusion with Frederick being identified as the son of  John Silverthorne and Ann Dyer, whereas I am relatively confident that hewas the son of Fitzroy Silverthorn and Ann Dyer, and that John was actually Fitzroy's father -  John Silverthorn.

Minnie died on 2 Mar 1936 in Raglan, Monmouthshire. Frederick Nelson died on 12 Oct 1945 in Raglan, Monmouthshire. The couple are commemorated  on a headstone in St Cadoc's churchyard, Raglan -"MIRIAM, beloved wife of F.N. Silverthorne, who died March 2nd 1936 aged 54 years. FREDERICK NELSON SILVERTHORNE who died Oct 12th 1945, Aged 65 years"

Frederick's will was recorded in 1949 in the National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations) - "Frederick Nelson Silverthorne of Ye Olde Shoppe, Raglan Monmouthshire, died 12 October 1945. Administration Llandaff 27 August to Fitzroy Silverthorne, grocer. Effects £6456 10s"
